About the Presenter

Dr. Olga Lucía Gamboa is a physicist with a Ph.D. in Basic and Clinical Neurology. During all her career as a researcher she have worked with non-invasive magnetic and electric stimulation techniques applied to cells, non-human primates and humans. During the last 10 years her research efforts have been dedicated to investigate neural plasticity and brain function in humans using transcranial stimulation methods (Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial electric stimulation).

Her areas of research include motor cortex plasticity, neurophysiologic research with TMS in child and adolescent psychiatry focused on anxiety and TMS combined with neuroimaging methods (offline and concurrent fMRI and EEG) to assess and modulate cognitive function. Besides, she uses neuroimaging and mindfulness practices in her own research focused on understanding cognitive processes such as memory and forgetting linked to emotion and how these affect well-being.
